Six-strong leadership group to drive standards
Ruben Amorim has been talking up the importance of his leadership group at Manchester United. Fans will delight to hear there are individuals in the dressing-room driving standards, reminding players of discipline levels expected, time-keeping, respect etc after all the talk of slackers. Basically, Amorim’s formed a bomb squad disposal unit.
Amorim, a good head coach, seeks to instil a new, improved culture at United, and should be applauded for that. It does need stating that leadership groups are hardly new. Some are formed to reflect and reinforce the manager’s principles. Some are sounding boards, conveying dressing-rooms concerns to the manager, even issues like training start times to fit in with school runs.
