Sadly I find myself disagreeing with a lot you write these days Henry, your Bellingham ‘love in’ was a difficult one but Slot as manager of the year takes the biscuit, it’s not even his side. The Young penalty decision was correct anyone who sees him play knows he’s a diver, and most writers agreed he exaggerated his fall, and if referees gave penalties for a shirt tug in the box there’d be a penalty every time there’s a corner where there’s far worse taking place. Anyway all the best Henry I’m off.

Hi Giles, if this is book-related, very kind. It's London book fair in early march so I've got an agent pitching my two books there. tbh I've got a way to go to get close to finishing!

I think you are spot on re Slot. Also bemused at the Everton penalty decision. Knowing his luck, I am surprised Young didn’t get a second yellow card for simulation…

I think Son can be compared to Graeme Hick. Rarely turns it on when it matters.

A couple of questions for you…I know the Glazers have increased commercial turnover since they took over. By a lot, bringing in their skill sets. Is there comparison data available?

Finally, do UEFA rules permit 7 clubs to appear in the CL? Top 5, Villa/Arsenal in 6th and win the CL and Spurs or United winning the EL.

according to the PL, your maths is correct, Giles. PL could have seven in the CL. (The Euro Super League was only going to have 6 PL!). Can't work out Son, but he is fading. Glazers have increased commercial turnover, it's just they appointed poorly on the football recruitment side. I'll check that

It’s astonishing how poorly they have spent. The same could be said of Spurs with the Bale money and most of the signings made by Steve Hitchen.

Totally right about Slot. No one comes close in my opinion. So impressive.

Bowen such a bargain signing who runs all day.

Don’t expect the Son revival from Saturday to last but hope it does. Top pro.

The VAR decision was just odd. Definite penalty but once they ask the ref to go to the screen 99% of the time it has created doubt in his mind and he feels he has to change. It was a definite penalty despite the theatrical fall from Young.

Hall should be Englands left back for the coming years. Great attitude it seems and gets forward and is improving defensively. Eddie Howe believed in him after a tough start and now he is flourishing.
