Always thought Sheffield United would summon up the muscle and goals. Be an interesting final. Liverpool fanbase split on Trent. Some have already moved on. Others still enraged. Partly that’s the modern media (social media) world. Their reaction was really poor. How else could Trent have handled it? Waited until the title was won, scored an important goal at Leicester. Fingers could be pointed as much at FSG.
Booing one of your own just impacts negatively on the entire team. The opportunity to do so might present itself when you next play against the ex player at his new club, if they acted disrespectfully towards their old team. I doubt TAA would ever do that anyway.
Outside the EPL, I’ve been lucky enough to have time spare to watch all of the EFL play off games so far. They’ve all been enjoyable and memorable for differing reasons and I hope to get along to Wembley as a neutral to see at least one final.
Maranakis or his PR team (😂) were very quick to offer a sort of apology on instagram after the game. His actions were embarrassing to say the least. On the flip side he is an owner who cares clearly wants the club to do well. Without him Forest would be in the 1st division or bottom of the championship. We have to grateful for what he has done for us.
I was at the game and it was clear big T couldn’t play on but a message was sent to go ahead with the substitution, because the coaching staff did hesitate over it. Someone must have said continue with it.
The disappointment over CL is such a dichotomy. Beginning of season I’d have laughed at the concept of European football of any sort. We have achieved that but you always want a bit more 😂. Yesterday’s result was so disappointing it almost hid the fact we are in Europe.
On to West Ham win and let’s see what happens on the last day.
Whatever the season end brings thanks to Nuno ( what a gentlemanly response to the owners invasion by the way ) the players and above all else Mr Maranakis. All he has done for us we will let him off his annual act of stupidity. COYR
I’m not sure Marinakis listens to his PR people (and the ones I know are good). Nuno handled it with his usual class. Good luck for the remaining games. Hope you do it.
There’s owners and then there’s owners Henry, as you know (short and sweet comment from me - Up The Vale! 😏😏).
On the Alexander-Arnold bizz - excuse me if I’m out of order here but isn’t there an element of disquiet on how it has been handled? From a hard edged financial perspective he is going for nowt. If he (or his agent 🤔) had made his intentions clear they could have sold him last year for a very tidy amount. The football brain drain.
Good column and points raised. Amorim needs to be more positive.
Arteta is a very good manager but just needs to sign a top class number 9 to give themselves a better chance of success. Strange comments this week though.
Marinakis a joke for what he did. Not called for. Nuno handled things so well. Done brilliant this season.
Jackson at Chelsea not good enough. Need do much better.
In this day and age it’s no surprise Trent got booed. But he hit far more cheers than boos. He has done nothing wrong. Seen out his contract but has always given his all for the club and is moving to the biggest club in the world. Big miss but Bradley is quality. Just injury prone.
New book should be a great read. Busy time for you.
Arteta is very bright so I just don’t understand why he doesn’t think before he speaks. It’s such ammunition for his critics and for fans of rival clubs
Would have thought a sense of pride would be more appropriate if an academy player was signed by RMFC, if not pride then a silent acceptance even if resented. Liverpool fan on Talksport last night was disgusted at elements of the Kop booing an existing player in the "Red Shirt", said he'd never witnessed this in 50 years as a spectator. Rumours about Trent's handling of his exit and perceived manipulation of the process spread on social media no doubt , spewing out vocally at a match. They'll need to chant his name and applaud him last home game to repair that reputational damage.
Jackson wouldn't get into the NUFC reserves let alone their first 11. Could anyone see Eddie Howe recruiting or selecting him? He plays like a remote controlled robot with no discernible footballing instincts. George should play upfront until we sign Delap (bit assumptive but hey) TG is a great kid, sharp and powerful, what we need for our last two matches at least. Like most Chelsea fans , don't wan't to see Jackson playing for us again.
Neither Coventry or Sunderland look anywhere near readiness for the PL, will watch the 2nd leg though as the Championship fascinates.
I’m a fan of yours obviously H, but this piece isn’t your finest work…
The only thing you can find to write about a markedly fine TEAM performance by Newcastle - who could amazingly be on the verge of pipping Arsenal to 2nd - was to offer a critique on one aberration… of ugly play by an unremarkable opposition player.
This match deserved a more positive report, IMH(ib)O.

Vale owners top class. Agree on Trent, club should have moved sooner. Either get him to sign a contract to maximise fee or sell him.

(Ib?.. ‘if biased’)
I’ve written loads on Newcastle on here. These aren’t match reports. Simply taking an issue and developing.
