Dyche and Tuchel. One goes, one stays. Another busy day in managerville.
I was focusing on Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s comments when news broke about Forest sacking Sean Dyche and then Times broke the story about Thomas Tuchel signing a new two-year extension. So Gareth Southgate’s new pod label, 1071, swung into action with a bonus episode. Christian Purslow and I examined Dyche’s dismissal from a footballing and financial perspective, and disagreed over whether the FA was right to extend Tuchel’s contract before he’d delivered at the World Cup. Echoes of Fabio Capello 2010. Anyway, hope you enjoy the episode.

Notable that #purs and Forest have both lost their managers and are being outperformed by West Ham managed by a former manager of theirs, the charming Nuno.
Really enjoying these so far.
Great discussion about the TT extension, Henry. Yours and Christian's takes on the peculiar timing seem right. Can't decide whether the FA have acted smart or lost some nerve.
Completely surprised me - thought all stars would align for a 2028 Euros campaign with Eddie Howe in charge.
