"England were a world-class side when we met them (last in 2021). With the additions and experience they've gained...they're even better now." Kasper Schmeichel
Danes full of respect for England.
Kasper Schmeichel believes that England are even better now than when Denmark played, and lost, to them in the semi-finals of the last European Championship. The teams meet in the Waldstadion here in Frankfurt on Thursday.
Jude Bellingham remained on the bench at Wembley on July 7, 2021, Phil Foden got only 25 minutes, Trent Alexander-Arnold was injured while Cole Palmer, Anthony Gordon, Kobbie Mainoo and Adam Wharton were rising through the age-group ranks while Eberechi Eze was in the Under-21s.
“England were a world-class side when we met them, they got to the final of a major championship,” Schmeichel said before training at the stadium today. “When you look at some of the additions since and the experience they’ve gained over time, they’re a better side now than ever, in the time I’ve been playing them.” Declan Rice, for example, has risen from 23 caps to 52 and played in a World Cup since. “All over the pitch, they have world-class talent,” Schmeichel continued. “They’re a good side and we’ll have to be on top of our game to beat them.”
