I started watching my team, Tranmere Rovers, in 1967. My Dad bought me my first season ticket in 1972. I’ve been a season ticket holder ever since - even through covid.

As I hurtle towards the end of my seventh decade on God’s green earth, I am becoming more and more disillusioned with the whole set-up.

Tranmere’s (and others) ‘demotion’ (we say we were never relegated!) during said pandemic, was the ultimate display of ‘stuff the football family’!

I am ever closer to saying I’ve had enough. I can do without it.

Whilst I genuinely applaud unity of the named Premier League followers, the truth is they couldn’t care less about the likes of us.

I mentioned my father’s purchase of my first season ticket. He was not a football man at all. He only ever went to one game: Tranmere Rovers v Coventry City in 1968. It was an FA Cup replay. I have such fabulous memories of that evening, not least because we won.

An FA Cup replay! Will never happen in English Football - ever again. No-one in the Premier League gives a monkeys about that though. In collusion with the EFL’s own Rick Parry (what football family?), they have eased their season load to make way for more filthy global lucre hunting.

It all use to be such fun! Hey ho!

It's why so many from the top level are moving to the non-league game, appreciated and understood more plus they value your money spent.
