From "Here, There and Everywhere" to "Help!" a look at England's win through Beatles records.
Bellingham loves the Beatles.
As a tribute to “Hey Jude” Bellingham’s love of the Beatles. “I listen to them a lot” – here’s a soundtrack from the Fab Four and John Lennon solo that could have accompanied England’s first game of Euro 2024, the 1-0 win over Serbia here in Gelsenkirchen.
“Here, There and Everywhere”. Bellingham himself: six touches in the left-back area, four in the left centre-half area; 25 on the left of midfield and left wing, 11 on the right. Two clearances from England’s area. Two touches, including his headed goal in Serbia’s box. Bellingham was ubiquitous. He took a kicking. He took responsibility. And Bellingham took his chance brilliantly.
“Across the Universe”. England fans were asked by the FA where in the world they were tuning in from and the response ranged from LA to Lagos, from fans watching Pink at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to those watching the 24 Hours of Le Mans. England enjoy a global following.
“Give Peace a Chance”/” War is Over”. England fans’ wearying song about German bombers being shot down by the RAF really needs grounding. Surely the RAF cannot appreciate its good name continuing to be associated with this embarrassment? Surely, it needs the RAF to call on them to stop?
