…well I guess he would be unlikely to have said: ‘some of us were just being lazy bastards and really didn’t deserve to be on the pitch. And I’m sorry to those fans who spent their hard earned shekels making more effort than we did to be there.’
If they (those lucky enough to still be in the team) play the same tomorrow I’d pack them off for good.
I thought what was interesting is that he said it was a PL thing. Some truth to that but more complicated. Also an individual thing. Too many players weren’t up for it against a smaller team. Madueke was.
England players won’t get much sympathy from me either. They play less than in past years and with 5-6 subs being used in games play less minutes. Hardly any foreign players complain it seems. England always struggle in these June games. Just seem bored. I do though have sympathy for the players who have played these International games and then have to go to the US for ‘Cash World Cup’ as you brilliantly call it. That’s too much of a work load both mentally and physically. Will get a couple of weeks off after this and then it’s preseason again. But players in the past played far more games. 60-70 games a seasons. Replays. Bruno never moons as you say. Do Messi or Ronaldo?
Also Mbappe at Real Madrid scored 43 in 56 games with 31 in the league. Not bad for being in an apparently in decline team who didn’t win much apart from the Club World Cup. Brilliant player. Will smash the French goal scoring record soon to.
Three times more likely to get a stress fracture or soft tissue in PL than in those leagues with a winter break. That’s the medical evidence. But PL won’t countenance a winter break. They tried a version of. What really worries me John is a player getting injured at the CWC and then it all kicking off big time between Fifpro and Fifa. Players have discussed striking (not over CWC)
Players will never strike Henry. They get paid to well. Just noise. Players never got injured as much playing more games in the past though. There is a lot of Sports Science overkill these days. Players are no way near as tough as they used to be. Spain only has a 10 day break. Hardly a winter break. Germany used to have 4-5 weeks but cut it down. English league by far the hardest physically but players do make to many excuses. Club World Cup is a tournament to far. A World Cup with big travel and the end on,y makes it worse. All about MONEY now. That’s the bottom line. Trump and Saudi involved only means one thing.
Apologies as in part I’m repeating myself from a comment on your Twitter feed Henry. And further apologies if I appear somewhat churlish. So it appears that the England players are to blame … or maybe not (Fernandes notwithstanding) … … but I wonder, and yes, I’m a Postecoglou fan, Where does Thomas “Only 1 nil v Andorra” Tuchel sit on the ‘Postecoglou Football Management Scale’ then?
Morning David, I'm just trying to highlight that the fatigue debate is more nuanced than depicted. Tuchel can't fully be judged until the World Cup knockout stages. His reputation so far is impressive.
‘Fatigue’!..

Thanks for even replying to my rant! You’re right about Madueke for sure. He can stay in. 😂
Best England player in Barcelona. I’ve spoken to him only once and immediately struck me as thoughtful and reflective of his career and development.

I know they won’t. But interesting they’ve discussed it.
Such sad news about Uriah Rennie. Top (and pioneering) ref and top person.
very, very sad. Good referee, too. Never got the FA Cup final which was surprising. Certainly good enough.
