King rises up to take on the upper class
“Woke up this morning feeling fine;
I’ve got Doug King on my mind;
He got Sisu out like he said he would;
Oh yeah;
Something tells me I’m into something good…”
Doug King’s been a force for good at Coventry City. Their fans even have a song of praise about their owner, celebrating his takeover from the unpopular Sisu. He promises to be a force for good for the EFL, fighting the pyramid cause, now he’s in the Premier League corridors of power. Could the New Deal be done? King’s about community and sustainability. Decisiveness, too: Mark Robins out, Frank Lampard in. Coventry back in the elite for the first time in 25 years.
But who is the Lowestoft-born trader? What shaped King the man and the businessman? He talks career, recruitment, regulation, Lampard, Dean Austin, Carl Rushworth and much more with me and Christian Purslow in the latest episode of the Football Boardroom pod. Links below. Hope you enjoy it…
