They should have included under the hood monitors for the referees to watch replays so a) players couldn’t be getting near them

And b) spectators would not be able

To shout stuff and c) stop SKY from analysing why they have been shown certain angles etc. when they go to the screen

Quality Monday post as always Henry. All up to Rashford now. No one to blame but himself. He is not a gods lad either and the press and public had the wool pulled over their eyes by his school meals thing. That was clever PR by his team. Has bead people around him to and Amorim will have seen that. Hence he has acted. Kelly Cates is an excellent appointment but it’s a fudge by the BBC not to nail their colours to the mast and say there is one main presenter like Lineker. One of the few female pundits are presenters that is a genuine asset to the coverage. So many are dreadful. Lovely person and family to.

Pep has a big job on but will sort it out I am sure. Need a few new players as some are past there best. Thought you would have mentioned the Pathetic Kyle Walker yesterday and his five for no contact with Hoijlund. Embarrassing. Had a poor game to.

Agree on the Martinez save. It was fantastic but people have gone overboard with some things being said. Banks save will always be the one to beat and glad you pointed out David Seanan’s save. Such an underrated goalkeeper.

Love the scorers in the four division stats. Nice thing to do.

The ring of steel news reminded me of refs being dragged off the pitch to review an incident on a screen for VAR purposes. They have no privacy and have phone cameras and a goon contingent as a background. It would make sense to protect refs a bit better in that scenario and get VAR to complement the work of the pitch officials better, as opposed to wasting minutes searching for activity invisible to human eyes in real time.

Having 3 MOTD presenters next season seems a bit of a cop out. Mark Chapman is a fantastic broadcaster and as a radio sports addict, I hear a lot of him. I’ve seen less of Kelly Cates because I watch Sky less than I follow sport elsewhere, but then Henry reminded me of all of Kelly’s radio work. She has just as much cheek and charm as Chappers and the same underlying command of the issues. All 3 will do a good job.

Notwithstanding whatever the behavioural issue(s) were that led to Garnacho & Rashford being dropped, having watched every United game under Amorim, I’m not sure where either fits into the team moving forward. I can’t see either player operating as a wingback or in one of the dual ten roles.

For a number of seasons now, there have been allusions to problems in Marcus Rashford’s private life. I don’t wish to speculate on those, but perhaps a new challenge in a new environment would best suit him, and the club.

Despite the tribal nature of football, I’ve never enjoyed seeing world class footballers or coaches fall from grace. (Mourinho, Torres, Shevchenko to name a few.) The situation with Pep Guardiola feels uncomfortable now. While I’m no City fan, his contribution to the Premier League & World football is truly remarkable. I’m hoping he has the support to get through this current challenging period.

The situation with Haaland brings me back to Pep favouring Harry Kane over the Norwegian prodigy in terms of recruitment. While Haaland is a formidable striker, beyond that he’s limited. I believe Pep wanted a more rounded player, that even if he was personally experiencing a goal doubt, he would still contribute significantly with linkup play & assists.

Difficult to turn down Haaland and, unlike Kane, will have resale value. Hope it’s a wake-up call for Rashford. I like him but he has to stop his career drifting. He owes it to his talent to do it justice

I wonder, in the PL can you think of any manager (or club) who’s sold one of their most valued assets for less than market value, because it was in the player’s best interests? Or is it the player/agent who prevents it? Because Rashford needs to go, and someone needs to make it happen, taking a haircut if necessary.

Probably makes sense a loan at first assuming United prepared to subsidise his wages. Wonder whether Rashford will look at Sancho doing well at Chelsea
