Yesterday’s offside is the epitome of why most hate VAR. It ruined what could have been one of the FA Cup’s best ever moments, for a decision that we’d have all said was level pre-VAR.
I will struggle to ever get on board with VAR for goal decisions because it’s ruined the best thing about football.. . Celebrating a goal.
If we move to semi-automated offside, this will help, but it won’t be close to immediate, so it will affect how you celebrate. I’d also want to see a much bigger onside tolerance. So anyone offside looks clearly offside. It’s hard to get on board with these toenail offsides as there’s no advantage to be gained.
thanks Alex, apologies for lateness, still feeling my way around. Agreed on semi-automated, will speed things up. Having spoken to Howard recently I don't get the impression they will consider onside tolerance. Kind regards Henry
Great to find you on this app seen you on Jonny Gould show talk tv
thanks Edward, still learning the ropes!!
Good to see the UK’s number one back in business. Good luck Henry.
that's really kind, Charlie. I'd be nowhere without your encouragement, guidance and editing skills at the Indy.
Best of luck, Henry! Solid first article ✌️.
