This week on The Winter View: England woes, importance of young lions, and Bellamy class
The latest from my daily podcast
Been a busy week so far on The Winter View podcast, covering England’s stumbles against Senegal, listening to Tuchel trying to justify performances, examining why Craig Bellamy has taken so well to management, and why I feel for Big Ange. And a daily look at football’s often unheralded work in the community, whether by clubs or fans. If you haven’t subscribed yet, please do consider so: http://podfollow.com/the-winter-view
MONDAY: A look at Jude Bellingham’s importance to England. Plus why Thomas Frank will be a good successor but you have to feel sorry for Postecoglou. The game should be about glory.
TUESDAY
I looked at what makes Craig Bellamy tick, drawing on past meetings with the Wales manager. Plus a look at how Tuchel can get England enjoying their football again.
WEDNESDAY
I report from the City Ground on why Thomas Tuchel’s decisions backfired, why Trent and Toney had reasons to be aggrieved. And did England players care as much as Senegal’s.
THURSDAY
I’m out in Bratislava, heading to watch England Under-21s. Analysis of why this tournament matters for player and coach development, who could present a case for promotion to the seniors. Plus I report on the breaking news of warnings from elite doctors and performance specialists on the risks of over-playing.
I’ll continue reporting on the Under-21s, hope you enjoy the coverage on Substack and the pod, The Winter View. Please do consider subscribing. Best regards, Henry
Henry, it’s Pat Jennings’ 80th birthday today. The greatest keeper I ever saw play live. I would argue that he is, if anything, more deserving of a knighthood than Mr Beckham.
